2008 Pure Stock Rules
Changes from 2007 are in RED.
These changes may be clarifications of old, or new rules.
CAR:
Any American made steel body car 1955 to present.
Sports cars, convertibles or 2 seat coupes are not permitted.
WHEEL BASE:
Must have a minimum wheel-base of 108 inches.
0 tolerance.
BODY:
Must run stock appearing body, steel after market bodies are permitted.
The hood, trunk, and roof may be fiberglass or aluminum.
Cutting on body for tire clearance is permitted.
Inner fenders may be removed.
Body must match engine manufacturer: Ford-to-Ford, GM-to-GM, etc…
No wings permitted, after market spoilers permitted – 7” max.
Factory spoilers stock Ford-to-Ford or GM-to-GM permitted.
UNI-BODY:
Uni-body may be used but frame must be tied together with 2" x 2" minimum tubing.
Tubing is allowed around motor for safety and body mounting purposes.
Tubing is allowed from the center of the rear axle to the back of the car.
RUB RAILS:
Rub rails no bigger than 1" x 2" may be attached to body from fender well to fender well.
DOORS:
All doors must be welded shut.
BUMPERS:
The area between the trunk lid and rear bumper must be closed off with solid metal or aluminum.
Bumpers must be stock and can be reinforced.
Bumpers must be fastened to fenders or quarter panels (tied in).
APPEARANCE:
Car must be neat in appearance, body damage must be repaired, and hood and trunk must be removable for inspection.
INTERIOR:
Full front firewall, side to side with holes covered.
Interior must be completely gutted.
All window openings must remain open.
Mirrors are not permitted.
FLOOR:
Must have steel floor pan from firewall to the rear of the driver’s seat.
May have aluminum from the back of the drivers seat to/and including the back full firewall as long as the aluminum is the same thickness as the steel in the front floor pan.
SEAT:
Aluminum Racing Seat required.
Must be on left side of car, no center steering.
Headrest required on right side.
Seat must be bolted to bars connecting to main roll cage.
SHEET METAL (interior):
The only sheet metal allowed in the drivers area is straight up at an angle from the bottom of the drivers seat to the bottom of the passenger window and from the back of the seat to the rear window area. No tubbing.
ROLL CAGE:
Must have six point (minimum), eight point (maximum) design roll cage using 1-1/2 by .095 wall minimum tubing.
The cage must be welded to the frame of the car, extend at least 2 inches above drivers head and include 3 bars minimum on the driver’s side.
2 bars minimum on the right side.
All parts of the roll cage assembly must be kept within the confines of the body of the car.
Full cage only.
All bars near the driver must be covered with padding.
BELTS:
A five-point safety harness belt must be fastened to cage or frame.
BATTERY:
If the battery is mounted in the driver’s compartment it must be securely mounted and covered in a manner that will not allow it to leak or dislodge in an accident.
DRIVESHAFT and LOOP:
A drive shaft loop is required and must be at least ¼" and 2" steel or ¼ chain and should be mounted no more than 6 inches back from front of drive shaft.
Drive shaft must be painted white.
FUEL CELL and LINES:
Approved fuel cell NO LARGER THAN 22 GAL. WITH FOAM required.
Must be fastened in the trunk of car to the frame or cage.
If fuel lines are run through inside of car, they must be inside of metal conduit.
TOW HOOKS:
Must have tow hooks on front and back, hooks must be easily accessible by tow truck operators.
WINDOWS:
Must have 3 bars minimum in front window area in front of driver’s head.
Screen is optional.
Driver’s side window net is mandatory.
No glass or plexy-glass.
REPAIRS:
May use tubing for reinforcement and repair of original frame.
If a section of the stock frame is cut out it must be replaced with a stock piece of frame.
STEERING AND SUSPENSION:
Steering must be factory OEM
No rack and pinion steering.
Quick release hub is optional.
Steering quickener is optional.
FRONT:
Tubular upper A frames are allowed.
Front suspension must be unaltered OEM and in stock location and must be replaceable by stock parts from same type suspension.
Stock passenger car spindles only, no fabricated spindles.
Bottom A-frames can not be changed or moved.
No air or coil over shocks allowed. Stock OEM replacement type only.
NO adjustable racing shocks allowed.
Shocks do not have to be in stock locations, only 1 shock per wheel.
Stabilizer bar is o.k.
Weight jacks are optional.
REAR:
Rear suspension must be stock OEM
Stabilizer bar is o.k.
No added lift arms or push-bars allowed.
No upper torque links or pan-hard bars allowed. 6 inch coil springs or leaf springs only (no coil covers)
Must be original spring suspension that matches the type of car being used. Coil for coil, leaf for leaf.
Weight jacks are optional.
REARENDS:
Any OEM car or truck rear end, no quick-change devices.
Floaters are optional, but are strongly recommended.
No aluminum after market rear-ends allowed.
9" Ford rear end allowed in any type car.
TRANSMISSION:
Automatic with stock torque converter permitted.
No racing transmissions – Brin, Bert, T.C.I. Automatic
Any clutch is okay, when the clutch pedal is pushed in the car must not move. When the clutch is left out the car must move.
BRAKES:
Must have 4 wheel brakes and lock up during inspection.
Stock type disc brakes may be used but no aluminum or racing style calipers or rotors may be used.
No shut off devices allowed.
TIRES AND WHEELS:
Hoosier Tire rule – All 4 per Hoosier Tire contract.
8-inch steel wheels only and all wheels must have 9/16" or better wheel studs, bead lock okay.
Must run oversized lug nuts.
ENGINE:
The engine must have a working starter and a stock type ignition.
Radiator hoop is permitted, but the radiator must be in the stock location.
ALIGNMENT:
No. 1 spark plug must be no further back then the centerline of top ball joint.
BLOCK AND HEADS:
Block and heads must be cast iron.
INTAKE:
Can have a low-rise aluminum intake, 6" max.
No fluid dampers.
CARBURETOR:
No 4 barrels allowed.
Must use an unmolested Holley 4412 2-barrel carburetor.
The only work allowed on carburetor is removal of the choke plate.
Carburetors will be checked with tech tools.
Any 4412 Holley found illegal will be fined $100.00 to the driver, loss of points for the night, and ALL prize money for the evening. The $100 fine must be paid before driver or car can participate in next racing event. CARBURETOR MUST BE CHECKED AT NEXT RACE FOR APPROVAL BEFORE RACING EVENTS START – NO EXCEPTIONS!!
Multiple carburetion, Injection, or Nitrous Oxide Systems are not permitted.
Carburetor may be claimed for $300. Claim must be in cash prior to the start of the feature event by a driver in the Pure Stock division. If there is more than one claim, a pill draw will be held to determine who will get the claim. Driver refusing to sell will lose all points and prize money earned for the evening.
FUEL:
Gasoline fuel only, no alcohol or other fuels allowed.
No electric fuel pumps allowed.
HEADERS:
Headers are allowed.
MUFFLERS:
Mufflers are required on all cars - 100 decibels maximum.
Exhaust must exit outside the body parallel to the track.
CONDITION AND APPEARANCE:
All cars must be in good operational condition, presentable in appearance and in general safe condition.
All racecars are subject to judgment of the inspection officials.
No wings or tunnels of any type permitted under the car.
NUMBER APPEARANCE:
Car numbers must be a minimum of 18” high on the car doors and roof.
Do not use reflective colors.
Do not spray paint numbers on.
Duplicate numbers are not permitted. (A small letter does not change the number!)
Drivers are responsible for making sure that the numbers are legible for scorekeeping.
DRIVER SAFETY:
All drivers must wear an approved fire suit that is in good condition, including gloves and boots.
Full face Snell SA-95 or better rated helmet required.
NECK COLLARS MANDATORY -- HANS DEVICE, HUTCHENS DEVICE, OR HORSE COLLAR TYPE.
A fully charged and easily accessible fire extinguisher is required along with a window net .
Door plate must be on outside of driver’s door bars. Must be minimum 1/8” steel or 1/4” aluminum. Plate must be from rocker panel to top door bar with width from door post to door post.
Kill switch must be mounted in the dash area LEFT of the steering column, clearly labeled and accessible from outside the vehicle.
WEIGHT RULE:
Car must weigh a minimum 3,200 pounds including the driver after feature.
0 tolerance.
ELECTRONICS:
No two way radios or other communication devices are permitted.
No “in-cockpit driver controlled” electronic devices of any kind permitted.
No computer controlled devices of any kind permitted.
PASSENGERS:
No one shall be allowed to ride on or in the car as a passenger on the track at any time during a racing event.
NOTE:
If the rules do not say you can, don't!
ANY DEVIATION FROM THIS INTENT OR FROM THE RULES SET FORTH WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND THE CAR AND/OR DRIVER WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE CLASS.
OFFICIALS WILL DEAL WITH DRIVERS ONLY.
DRIVERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONDUCT OF THEIR PIT CREWS AND WILL BE PENALIZED FOR THERE INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR.
Any car, which is determined to be unsafe, for any reason, by Track Officials, will not be allowed to participate in any event at any event at Lakeville Speedway until modifications are made.
No equipment will be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through tech inspection unobserved!
It is your responsibility to see that your car is legal. If you have any questions ask!
All cars subject to inspection at any time at the track.
There will be no admission or pit fee or entry fees returned if your car can not run that night for whatever reason.
Remember, rules may not cover every incident that may occur, therefore, in those situations the decision of the promoter and/or inspecting official is final.
If you are asked to make safety changes to your car, you must do so that night. Please do not ask if you can run one week like it is.
If your car is found illegal after a race, you forfeit all monies, trophies, and points for that night.

The rules and/or regulations set forth herein do not express or imply warranty of safety, from publication of, or, compliance with these rules and/or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the Lakeville Speedway events and are in no way a guarantee against injury to participants.
These rules and/or regulations will apply to all Lakeville Speedway racing events.
Designated officials of Lakeville Speedway have full authority over racing events. In the event of any on track dispute the Head Flagman’s decision will be final.
Decisions of Lakeville Speedway officials and promoters pertaining to the interpretation of rules that affect race procedures, and scoring of positions shall be final.
