LAKEVILLE SPEEDWAY CROWNS SEASON CHAMPIONS

     Lakeville,Oh.09/19/08
Seven division champions were crowned on Friday night as the pits and grandstand were filled.Three of the classes were up for grabs for the points title and actually came down to the checkered flag to determine the final outcome.Congratulation go to J.R.Gentry(Late Models),Nick Mulheim(Sprints)
Shaun Cains(Pure Stocks),Jordan James(Mini Stocks),Tim Rush(Mini Novice),ToddGallion(Mini Trucks),Charlie Dawson(Classic Cruisers).
The first feature saw Kristn Flory and Jay McDougal lined up in the front row to start the twenty five lap Late Model final points race of the year.As the green was shown,Flory wasted no time to go to the point with McDougal in chase. After only one lap,Rocky Owens joined the battle from starting fifth and Mike Geiss remained in his third spot.By lap five, point leader ,J.R Gentry went up to the cushion of the perfect prepared racing surface and was on a mission to wrap up his championship as he was up to fifth place fom starting twelth. After two more laps,Gentry moved around Owens and McDougal and was on the rear bumper of Flory.Behind the two leaders, several very good battles were going on between Jason Flory, from starting fourteenth and Dave Hornikel from his eleventh place. As the laps were ticking off,Gentry tried to overtake the leader by going very high then back to the bottom, but could not gather in the leader.Following Kristin Flory to the checkered for her third win of the year was Gentry,Mcougal,Owens and Hornikel.Heat wins were won by Owens,McDougal and Eric Eicholtz.Ryan Eddleblute gathered in the B Main win.It was Gentry's Fifth feature victory driving his El Capensino  sponsored entry.
Jack Sodeman Jr. from North Jackson Ohio made his second visit to Lakeville Speedway a good one as dominate the fiel in the heat race and pretty much duplicated that in the A Main.He started on the outside of the front row with Danny Mumaw lined up on the inside pole position.Sodean went to the point instantly as Mumaw hung tough for the first two circuits.Stewart Brubaker from fourth place took over thrd place as Mumaw slowed the field with a spin out on lap eight. As they were bunhed back up and as thegreen was shown,Tim Hunter went to the cushion and was on the move forward. Two caution flags saved the leader from having to work lap traffic.Aaron Middaugh and Kirt Jefferies found the fast way around the track in the latter laps as did points champion Nick Mulheim from his ninth place start. In he final thre laps,Hunter was able to drive to the back bar of the leader, however could not make the pass as Sodeman got the win with Hunter second,Middaugh third,Jefferies fourth and Mulheim fifth.Brubaker lost an engine on the final lap and had to settle for a ninth place finish after a strong race run.Sodeman and Jeffries won the heat races.
Dave Haven Jr. started on the pole of the feature in the Hamlin Racing Engines Pure Stocks and was able to fend off numerous challenges from Travis Mensching and Don Baney.Mensching constantly kept the pressure on Haven Jr.for the entire event as Baney joined the front runners and at times the three were three wide off of the turns. Before this occurred,Jason Kodek glued himself to the rear bumper of Baney and refused to give up the battle. In the latter stages of the event,Shawn Wassom from eighth and Frank Oriti from sixteenth moved in and made a final run at he top runners as the laps ran out.At the finish it was Haven Jr getting his first win this year in his Woodland Inn sponsored machine followed by Mensching,Baney,Oriti and Wassom.
Wassom,Paul McVicker and Roger Drouhard took the three heat wins.
Justin Brown came from starting in the fifth place in the Mini Stock finale and recorded his second feature win of the year and was able to hold off the challenge of Glenn Elliott Jr early in the contest.Elliott then had trouble and was replaced in second place by Gary Hensel Jr.Josh Robinson was forced to
start back in fourteenth place and by mid race was shown in fourth.Points champion Jordan James started eighth and was constantly being pressured by Lenny Quinn. The win was all Brown's with Robinson driving to a second place finish as Hensel Jr took third with James fourth and Quinn recording a top five finish.Brown,Eliott Jr and Alan Summers took the three heat wins with Brandon Craver taking the win in the B Main.
Steve Foley got his first win of the year on the final night of point racing in the Mini Stock Novice class. He got a lot of pressure from Casey Butler in the early stages of the event and as the laps ticked off Cody Rush came from back in the sixteenth place to finish in second spotTaking third was Butler with Trevor Quicksall fourth and Lloyd Donaldson fifth.Dustin Daugherty and David Daugherty took the heat wins.
Chaz Odell won his second of the year in the Mini Truck feature from the outside of he front row.He was able to stave off the pressure from Brandon
Craver who finished second with Dave Giauge third,Scott Gray taking fourth and Travis Leyda fifth.
Kenny Yarosh drove to his second victory this year in the Classic Cruisers with Royle Mast finishing second,Bob Fry took third,David Hinton was fourth and Bill Miller came from starting ninth to finish fifth.Yarosh and Hinton took the two heat wins.
