TROY KINGAN WINS SPRINT FEATURE AT THE NEW LAKEVILLE SPEEDWAY

Lakeville,Ohio 07/11/08
Troy Kingan of nearby Jeromesville Ohio put his K&R,Griff's Engine sponsored Sprinter in the winner circle on Friday night at the New Lakeville Speedway. It was not an easy chore from the pole spot as points leader Nick Mulheim started beside him in the front row.Kingan took the early lead as Mulheim was second with Jason Dolick and Kirk Jefferies in tow.Jeremy Aumend had moved up from his sixth starting spot to be shown in fifth place. The group raced in those positions until lap ten when Mulheim went to the bottom of the track and made the pass for the lead in turn two.As they exited turn three,Kingan had regained the lead from Mulheim. The next time around at just about the same place on the track,Mulheim made the same move and they came very close to making contact and Mulheim backed off to avoid a collison. They raced in that order for the next six circuits up front as Jefferies was hooked up in a good battle with Dolick and Aumend. On the eighteenth lap,Mulheim took the lead again from Kingan and the following lap Kingan repaid the favor by moving to the point again.Kingan was able to stay out front the final laps and recorded his first win in fifteen years.Mulheim finished second and maintained his divisonal points lead with Jefferies third,Dolick fourth and Aumend fifth.Jeeferies won the heat race.
The American Payroll Advance Lakeville Late Model feature was one of not only some great racing, but one of great disappointment at the end for Kristin Flory who actually crossed the finish line ahead of her husband Jason Flory who followed her to the checkered in second place.Jason had taken the green flag from the outside of the front row and scooted to the lead right away with Benny Lester moving into the runner up spot.Jason opened up a sizable lead over Lester as Matt Irey,Mike Lonas and points leader Clint Coffman was battling for position. On lap nine the field was slowed for a caution flag for Coby Bartrum as he rolled to a stop off of turn four.In the next seven  laps,Kristin was working very hard and had mounted a charge from her sixth starting spot and raced side by side with Lester for the runner up spot while Lonas and Irey duplicated the ecitement further back in the pack.On lap sixteen,Kristin made the move on Lester and shot to the second running spot behind her husband who had stayed at the lead for the entire event. When the nineteenth lap was recorded,Kristin made the move on her husband as he began to experience a handling concern with a tire loosing air and she was able to overtake him for the lead.Jason was able to stay on her rear bumper, but could not take the lead back from her and she crossed the finish line first. The dissappointment that was written on the first line of this paragraph became a reality when Kristin did not present her Late Model to the techinical inspection area for post race inspection and weighing and was disqualified for that infraction.Jason Flory was declared the winner and recorded his second win of the year in his McElvain Trucking,Rays Garage and Donnie Moran Racing sponsored entry.Finishing second was Lester, followed by Lonas,Irey and Coffman.Heat wins were won by Jason Flory and Matt Irey.
Bob Daugherty reeled in his second feature win of the year as he raced his McKenzie Concrete sponsored Pure Stock from  the outside of the front row and led flag to flag in the Hamlin Racing Engines Pure Stock A Main.Right on the very first lap Daugherty blasted to the lead as Larry Loney chased him for the first two laps.Frank Oriti had moved very quickly from starting in third spot and passed Loney for the runner up spot on lap three.Dave Haven Jr and Jeremy Dickerson put on a great display as those two locked up in a good battle for third and fourth.point leader Shaun Cains was showing his talents as he was on the move from deep in the field and had started in tenth spot.As the tenth lap was recorded,Oriti slowed with a flat tire and headed to the pits and did not return to the grid.On the restart, last weeks winner Don Baney blasted to the third running spot behind the second place Haven Jr as Daugherty was not challenged the final laps.Daugherty got the win followed by Haven Jr,Dickerson,Cains and Baney as he was charged with a jump start violation and was moved back two spots and was scored fifth.Paul McVicker and Dickerson took the heat wins.
Josh Hershberger recorded his third podium finish in his Tri M Block entry from his pole starting spot in the Hague Crystal Clear Water Mini Stocks. The entire event saw Hershberger and the outside front row starter,Justin Brown lock up into a great clean battle.Last weeks winner Dale Beckett came from eighth spot to join the chase early as did Jordan James all the way from twelth.Hershberger and Brown raced away from the other entries for the first seven laps with Beckett moving much closer in the final stages.James and points leader Sean Rush put on the show of the night as they went side by side for several laps.Final finish was Hershberger,Brown,Beckett,James and Rush.Three heats were contested and the wins went to Brown,Robert Lapp and Sean Rush.
Danny Rose was a very happy young man as he raced to his first win of the year in the Rod Eddleblute's Garage Mini Stock Novice feature. He started on the outside of the front row and Brad Lawhorn from his fourth starting spot put the pressure on the leader the entire event. At the finish it was Rose over Lawhorn,Dustin Daugherty,Tim Rush and Kevin Wright.Daugherty and Steve Foley took the heat wins.
Bob Fry started in the fourth spot in the Classic Cruiser feature and picked up the win.Mason Radcliff (former track champion) made his first start in a few years as he joined the division.Radcliff's two sons also race in this division and dad and the sons actually got to race very close in this event.Fry took the lead from Radcliff on the third lap and stayed out front with Steve Hinton Jr finishing third Bill Miller racing from his ninth starting spot to take fourth and Kenny Yarosh rounding out the top five,.Fry and Charlie Dawson took the heat wins.
Todd Gallion won his heat and came back to take the checkered in the finale of the evening in the Mini Truck division and maintained his points advantage for the year.Keith Pavlich was second,Travis Leyda third and Scott Gray was fourth.
The New Lakeville Speedway will be back in action next friday night July 18th with all seven divisions in action.Stay up to speed with all the action and news at www.lakevillespeedway.com
